In 1855 Kerry Heysen-Hicks’ great grandparents began farming on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
It has taken one hundred and forty five years for family tradition to be followed when vignerons Kerry and her husband Scott Hicks began growing grapes in the Kuitpo area of the Adelaide Hills at Yacca Paddock Vineyards.
A cool climate vineyard planted in the year 2000. From the inception the focus was on designing a vineyard that would grow premium quality grapes and introduce some lesser known varieties. Therefore included in the plantings of Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Merlot and Tempranillo were Durif, Dolcetto and Tannat and Arneis.
Geoff Hardy manages the vineyard. He combined his vigneron skills with the eye of an aesthete when creating the vineyard in conjunction with film director Scott Hicks and his wife, film producer Kerry Heysen-Hicks.
Their life in the film industry expects a standard of excellence and they share a philosophy and practice of environmental responsibility in their pursuit to grow the best grape for the perfect wine.
